Stay sexy, Stay curious,
Love, Bri
One of my favorite audio erotica creators has a series around kink and the specific audio that really kind of hit home for me was around exhibitionism. Now I'm going to set the scene for you. I've actually never experienced exhibitionism from a public space. Now, from a more personal way, like you know, sending pictures and videos and being watched by my partner those sorts of things I would lean into exhibitionism. I find it deeply arousing, deeply gratifying, and it's just a different level of experiencing pleasure for me. This audio erotica creator is actually on Quinn and this was a beautiful fantasy to be able to lean into while listening, and it is one audio in particular where I was guided through an entire scene step by step, right the setup, explaining invitations, all the things using the kind of language that really made me feel like I was a part of it. Also, this audio was a direct-to-listener, which I absolutely love. And the thing that really got me in this space and really hit home for me with this type of audio erotica, it was the first time that I'd ever truly been talked through orgasm. And I'm not talking like moans or phrases here and there. And I'm not talking like moans or phrases here and there, I'm talking full on sentences telling me exactly what I was allowed to feel, giving me permission to fall apart, which is super sexy. It was electric, it was liberating, it was affirming and so expansive because what I desired or what I thought might be too much right or too niche or too taboo, it wasn't only validated through this audio, but it was also a realization of something that other people actually wanted to give. So sometimes when we sit inside of our fantasies or our desires, we think, oh, I'm the only one, we think we're alone in that desire. And it was really cool because this audio has been played by like 30,000 people, or at least 30,000 times. So to know that I'm also not alone in the desire to feel these things in this way was also really beautiful. And it was in that moment that I actually realized that audio, porn, audio erotica, isn't just this like sexy, fun, taboo thing. It's actually really powerful and I believe that it's probably the future of erotica.
Speaker 1:And the reason I say this is because I believe in the intimacy of imagination. Unlike visual porn, right, the one that we're sort of very familiar with when we think of porn itself or erotica itself, it kind of lays it all out there for you. It does appeal to one of our most dominant senses, which is sight. One of our most dominant senses, which is sight, and audio is something that actually invites us into all of our senses, into our imagination. And the beautiful thing about our brains is that they are our largest erogenous zone and the mind can't actually differentiate what is imagined and what is actually real. Now, obviously, consciously we can recognize oh, I was imagining that I was. Now, this is like something that I'm actually really sitting inside of. But our brains itself, when we're playing out those scenes in our head, when we're imagining, our brains are like oh, this is real in this moment. So I think also that's really beautiful and we're being guided and walked through situations consensually from start to finish by, you know, really alluring voices and confessions and storytelling, and it's just such a different structure than what we see in mainstream porn. And also it's made by women, oftentimes for women, and it appeals to the female gaze, as opposed to what we see again in mainstream porn, which appeals to the male gaze and is very much in a more outdated sexual view and a minimized sexual expression for more people than just someone with a penis. And so I think when we lean into audio erotica it really feels like a choose your own adventure for pleasure, no matter who you are.
Speaker 1:On the topic of women's pleasure and women's desire system, we love this and research shows that actually 90% of women's sexual fantasies are driven by our imagination, not just more physical stimulation. And we have this system in our brain, called the brain crotch, that actually lights up from storytelling, from buildup, from emotional framing, and I have an article on my sub stack called the good kind of mind fuck that goes into this a little bit more. And so it's no wonder that Quinn, which is a dominating audio erotica platform, has over 100 million listens. It's no wonder that Dipsy has seen 60 plus surge in women tuning in, and Femtasy, another platform, has over 250,000 active users worldwide. These people aren't just curious, they're committed to this form of pleasure, this form of erotic imagination. It's really really potent, and I think it's because we're in this sort of pleasure shift. And I think it's because we're in this sort of pleasure shift.
Speaker 1:So when we talk about visual porn, it's fast, it's explicit, right Again, it focuses on male pleasure. With audio porn or audio erotica it is the total opposite. It's also slower, it's more sensual, it's built on anticipation. It teases our brains into pleasure, and Dipsy actually reports that 85% of their listeners feel more emotionally connected to themselves afterwards. Can you imagine that right? And 70% of people actually feel more sexually confident. And if you're on Quentin, which is a platform that I deeply love, it helps them feel more attuned to their bodies without the pressure to perform which we see a lot in mainstream porn, and I would talk maybe more of the mainstream unethical porn, which definitely focuses on the male gaze and looks at pleasure from an outdated space. But when we're talking about maybe more ethical porn I'm talking Erica Lust, I'm talking Belaysa House, I'm talking Afterglow these companies that are focusing on sharing ethical erotica from a more updated and comprehensive lens of pleasure, with the female gaze in mind and a more inclusive lens. These spaces, as well as audio erotica, are doing amazing things for this pleasure shift, are doing amazing things for allowing people to lean into their desires and their fantasies and their connection to their bodies and their sexuality in ways that actually are beautiful and expansive and accepting and gratifying and satisfying for not just people solo but also couples and any sort of orientation as far as relationship goes. So audio erotica from stats is very hot and it's also really empowering and we love to see it. And this matters because this type of media is overwhelmingly made by women for women, which means that it centers things mainstream porn again often misses right Consent conversation, intimacy, diverse identities and desires.
Speaker 1:Intimacy, diverse identities and desires 73% of Dipsy's listeners say that it makes more of them confident in exploring their fantasies, which is huge, right? That's also a question I get a lot as an intimacy educator is what do I do with these fantasies? How am I supposed to explore them, especially in coupledom? And so 65% of people say that it helps them communicate what they want in bed, which is massive, because, again, that's another conversation that we have. How do I talk to my partner about X, y and Z? How do I ask for what I want in bed? And oftentimes I will say that sex starts outside of the bedroom. So if you can communicate outside of the bedroom, it's a lot easier to communicate inside of the bedroom less pressure, right? The stakes aren't as high. It's a lot easier to communicate inside of the bedroom less pressure, right? The stakes aren't as high. And when we're talking about people leaning into a situation that can come with a lot of expectation and a lot of consequence and a lot of expansion sexually or you know it can contract you sexually.
Speaker 1:I think it's massive when you're able to ask for what you want, when you're able to clearly communicate consent, when you're able to clearly communicate the things that you desire or the things that you don't. And something that audio erotica enforces is the ability to communicate retractable consent, the ability to stop when you want, to stop right, to show up in these spaces without the pressure to have to perform. That also helps you expand, solo and together. So I think that is something that's beautiful and it's something that really matters when we're thinking about the advancement of pleasure and sexual exploration. And I think one of the things, at least for me, is the most powerful about this form of media is you get to have the utmost sovereignty and autonomy when it comes to your pleasure, because you're the person that presses play and chooses the episode and presses stop and stars the thing and comments right, and you get to explore this type of media however you desire.
Speaker 1:You don't have to show up in performance right. There's no fake moaning or no awkward camera angles or no pressure to mimic what you've seen or what you feel like is expected. You get to really sit in your imagination and your pleasure and the freedom to pause it and rewind it and skip it whenever you want that. You actually get to have autonomy when it comes to how you show up sexually. That is a beautiful muscle to flex alongside and even before getting into an experience with another person, right? Because if you can give yourself the space to say, yes, I like this, no, I don't like this, this is how I'd like to lean into expression when I'm in this space. It's a lot easier than to show up with another person and lean into that as well, because you've given yourself permission in a way where there's no pressure to perform. Where there's, you've given yourself permission in a way where there's no pressure to perform, where there's no pressure to show up in any way, your body is comfortable, it's familiar with that terrain. So I think it's just a really beautiful form of control that you get to have and a reminder of your sovereignty and your autonomy inside of these spaces. And if you're somebody looking to lean into audio erotic, or you've never touched it or you're like, oh yeah, that sounds really sexy, but I don't know where to go, some of my favorite platforms and I've used every single one of these and I'll tell you a little bit more about each one of them as I'm going through them, because I feel like it's helpful to decide oh yeah, that actually sounds like something that I would really enjoy or that doesn't sound like something that I would really enjoy. It kind of just depends on how you feel desire, how you feel pleasure, what type of stimulation you enjoy. If this is an avenue of like exploration you desire to go in, so my top choice is going to be Quinn.
Speaker 1:I love their erotica. I think it's raw, it's edgy, it's unfiltered. The creators have a lot of say in the way they show up. Filtered the creators have a lot of say in the way they show up. Everyone's niche is particular to themselves. I really love their direct to listener clips. That's probably my favorite thing about Quinn. It feels extremely immersive. I think it's fantastic in the way that they are inclusive to diversity as a whole, whether it's gender, relational identity, sexual desires there is literally something for everybody.
Speaker 1:My next one would probably be Dipsy. This is actually the platform that got me started in audio erotica and I really love it because, again, it's inclusive. These ones are actually story driven, which is really sweet. So you kind of get to be immersed in a story that maybe isn't necessarily direct to listener. They do have some of those. This is more specifically a story driven platform. So for anybody who is a little bit more of a voyeur or who just enjoys being immersed in a story from an outside perspective, this is also a great one. It has a lot of slow burn romance, which is also nice. I really enjoy this.
Speaker 1:And then there's Erika Lust Audio. Anything that Erika Lust does I'm a big fan, definitely like feminist porn icon right, always centered on women's pleasure. So if you were somebody who's like, this is my jam. Her visual erotica is also fantastic. And there's Femtasy, which has a robust library for women's fantasies that are intimate and empowering, which I really love. That there's Furly. So Furly is a little bit more mindful, it's more meditative, right. It really helps you connect to your body. So if you're somebody who's felt disconnected but you also want a side of spice, this is a great platform for you. And then there's Bloom. Which Bloom is? It's softer, it's a little bit more emotionally driven, it's definitely a consciously sexual vibey sort of space.
Speaker 1:And I've touched again. I've touched on Quinn, dipsy, erica Lust and Femtasy over Furly and Blue. Definitely do your research on those ones, but I would still say they are great to check out. Each one definitely has its own flavor, so you can use whichever one to build on your own personal audio playlist, whatever works for you. Some of them will give you like a few free offerings to just test them out on Spotify if they're attached. Some of them will give you just like a free seven-day trial, but definitely definitely try it out. The one thing, too, that I like about Quinn is that you can sort of befriend and or follow creators that are voicing these audios, which is also really sweet. It's just another layer of connectivity.
Speaker 1:And another thing that I really love about audio erotica is that we get to experience the genres and the tropes of like smut or romanticcy, and so we get popular ones right that you actually get to experience in either the direct to listener or the storytelling which is our dominance and submission, so playing with that control and that surrender, but you get to do it in a safe, consensual way. You get to experience the slow, sensual storytelling right, the ones that have that full body detail, the emotional buildup. You get to experience what it means to edge through words. If you're somebody who loves to read or listen to audiobooks, this is a great option. You get to that fun strangers to lovers, or friends to lovers or enemies to lovers right, the tension, the risk, the forbidden thrill. We love the tropes for a reason, and when you get to experience that in audio version, that's a little extra spicy. That's always super fun.
Speaker 1:Any of my praise kingsters out there that erotic charge of being told hey, you're a good girl or you're a good boy that's super arousing and super affirming to hear from somebody, especially if it's something that you desire inside of the spaces that you're in or inside of the relationships that you're in, but you're not sure of how to ask for it or you're not necessarily sure how you'd feel about it. This is also a great space to explore those sort of things. And then you have the fantasy and the role play you get to have like bosses and assistants right, mythical seductions, taboo exploration. And you get to do like bosses and assistants, right, mythical seductions, taboo exploration. And you get to do it all without judgment. I recently listened to one that I wasn't even sure was gonna do anything and it was about like a therapist's office, like you're sitting inside of a therapist's office, and that was a really interesting fantasy to play inside of. So so I think, whatever itch you have, there's something to scratch it and that's really fun. And the coolest part is that you get to do it in a safe space where you're choosing the adventure and you don't feel alone in it, because you also can see like, oh wow, all of these other people enjoy it. All of these other people comment on it. This is how many views and saves it has. So I think there's really something for everybody out there.
Speaker 1:And a beautiful aspect about these genres is that you can just listen to them. To listen to them right, you don't necessarily have to have a goal in mind. You don't necessarily always have to use it to get yourself off. It can be something where you actually go and you learn how to talk right, as like a listen and repeat sort of thing. So it's not just about the climax. It's not just about that end result. It can also be about how it helps you lean into your desires and fantasies, how it helps you lean into your desires and fantasies, show you what you actually like and don't like, introduce you to something new. It's really like a library for your pleasure and you get to be seen and desired and understood and educated and given permission in a space that feels deeply consensual.
Speaker 1:And it's not just for individuals too. That's another thing is audio. Erotica is also for people inside a relationship. I actually listened to one where they included an audio around bringing in a partner. So let's say you are somebody who wants to experience what it would be like to have a third in the room, but you don't actually want to have a third in the room or you don't feel like you're ready for that space. You can do a consensual audio that incorporates another person's voice. You have no idea who this person is right, and it's something that you and your partner actually can experience together.
Speaker 1:Before experiencing it, or even if ever experiencing it in a space of actually having another person inside of the room, or if you just want to use it as a way of foreplay or as a way of buildup or as a way of hey, this is something that I would like to explore you should listen to this audio to give your person an idea of something that you'd be interested in leaning into. What a great way to showcase hey, or even ask for it what it is that you want, especially if you're a little bit reserved about it or you're unsure of what to say. You can say this is the style of, maybe kink that I like, or this is a fantasy that I have, or this is like a fun genre of you know sexual exploration that I want to lean into, and you don't know how. You don't have the language for what it is that you want. You can share an audio and that's really hot. It can be a great tool to reconnect as well.
Speaker 1:Some people I've talked to a lot of couples who just feel like you know, porn is cheating and it's the statement of oh well, if they have to look at this, then they must not desire me. Or, again, when we get into that performance, we get into that comparison, and maybe one partner watches a specific type of porn all the time and then the partner's like why is it that you like that? Is it something visually that you enjoy that maybe I don't have? Or, again, it just leans into comparison sometimes. Or competition with this form of media. That is really just supposed to be something that helps people connect to themselves and their sexuality and their partners, and it makes it a theme of performance and pressure and comparison, and so sometimes it's nicer to remove the visual from it and incorporate something like audio to where you can really let your imagination lead, or you can let the voice lead and you're just guided through an experience with your partner. They also have those. Those are really sweet.
Speaker 1:It doesn't have to be something that feels really daunting. It can be something that is you know. It can be something that just sparks conversation. It could be something that helps educate. It can be something that feels really low pressure and playful, but also deeply connected, not just for yourself, but you and the person that you are having sex with.
Speaker 1:And so, for me, I think the future of erotica is probably audio, and it's not just this passing trend. I really think that is reshaping how we explore intimacy, because of how empowering it is, because of how inclusive and consent-driven it is, and I think it's only going to grow because people are realizing how amazing it is and how fun it is, too, to see celebrities getting in on the action as well. Well, I know Quinn does a lot of that, where they have celebrity audios, and those are always so fun. You know, I'll be, you know, going grocery shopping and I'll put my headphones in. I'll be at the gym and I'll put my headphones in. It's just really cool, um, it's a great way to be more curious, or to become more curious and allow your imagination to sort of take over, and one big thing for a lot of people is that it is super discreet. You know, there's no hiding your phone, you can just pop your headphones in and sit inside a fantasy, and I think that is another appeal for a lot of people.
Speaker 1:There is still a lot of shame and stigma around expressing yourself sexually, and so when we're given forms of media that allow us to learn and remain curious and lean into our desires and our fantasies safely, consensually, without the pressure and without the fear of judgment and shame and guilt and all of the things that can come with visual aid, I think we put ourselves in a really great position to refine the conversation and make things a little bit more accessible and stop being so fucking scared of talking about sex and having the conversations around pleasure and being confident and comfortable, asking for what we want and being more available for comprehensive sexual education, which often does not include pleasure, but it should. So if you are interested in diving into the world of audio erotica and you have not I definitely recommend any of the platforms that I mentioned in the episode, and if you're somebody who's like, that sounds really cool, I want to work for them. I know oftentimes they are hiring for voice actors and or writers, depending on the platform itself, so look into that.
Speaker 1:I hope you enjoyed this episode. Thank you for spending time with me, letting me talk about, and nerd out about, audio erotica. I think it's such an amazing option for us to get curious about who we are sexually, and it gives us a safe space and a consensual space and a guilt-free, shame-free and yes, discreet way to lean into these sorts of things. So I do have a full sub stack written about this If you're somebody who wants a bit more information. Thank you so much for taking time to hang out with me today. I hope you joined this episode.
